The more you know... [star shoots] Saturday, January 21, 2006. (In the Aztec calendar, it's Tochtli, Ehecatl, Ocelotl, for all my Aztec friends.) The moon will be in its last quarter. ![]() We've also set up something special... the near-Earth flyby of Asteroid 1998 QP! You are welcome. In early evening, the Moon shines between Orion (to its lower right) and bright Capella (to its upper left). Saturn is the bright point glowing far to the Moon's lower left. Procyon sparkles to Saturn's lower right, just a bit dimmer. _____ Did you know January 21st is not only the birthday of Telly "Who loves you baby?" Savalas, Billy Ocean, Geena Davis, and "Stonewall" Jackson, but also National Hugging Day? Now you do! Furthermore, it's National Oatmeal Month, National Clean Up Your Computer Month, National Personal Self-Defense Awareness Month, and National Squirrel Appreciation Day. Please celebrate with us. _____ Frittering and puttering: Visit the Mall of America. Get trapped behind a slow person from Wisconsin--GUARANTEED! Ice skate at the Depot. There's science to be had at the Science Museum. At the Minnesota Children's Museum, you can Jump to Japan: Discovering Culture through Popular Art. The MN History Center is pretty boring. The Mill City Museum is actually not as boring as it sounds, especially if you dig Betty Crocker, and I know you do. Not down with the museum scene? Electric Fetus is for music. Mill Ruins Park has big rusted stuff and a good view of the river. Summit Ave. has the pretty houses. You, too, can walk the thin blue line. Muffuletta has the tasty brunch. The Riverview Theater has the good popcorn.
